The ‘Great River’

The territory’s name come comes from the Gwich’in name “Yu-kun-ah” for the ‘great river’ that drains most of this area. As well as many other provinces and territories in Canada, which owe great names and histories to the Indigenous peoples, the Yukon territory can hope to, and now also reciprocate through one area such as health care.
