PEI Cancer Emergency Assistance is a program providing supplies for cancer patients in PEI. Unfortunately, there is no other public assistance for ostomy supplies in PEI.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this program, you have to meet the following requirements:
- resident of PEI
- diagnosed with cancer
- total household income is <$25 000 for one person; <$30 000 for two people; <$30 000 +$2000/dependent for larger households.
Applications are processed by the PEI Division office of the Canadian Cancer Agency. You must send in the completed application, certification signed by your physician, and the most recent tax return for all members of your household. You must re-apply each year.
Coverage
This program covers a variety of travel, drug, and medical supply costs for PEI cancer patients. A detailed list of covered costs is available online.
Coverage of Ostomy Supplies
For the first two years after surgery, ostomy bags, flanges and wafers are provided. This benefit only lasts for 2 years after surgery. All supplies are distributed from the PEI Division office in Charlottetown.
